The Forensic Science program at Yenepoya University was established in 2019, where we delve into the captivating world of scientific investigation, criminal justice, and the pursuit of truth. Our department is dedicated to unraveling the mysteries of crime through a multidisciplinary approach that combines cutting-edge science with meticulous analysis.

The department purposes to offer students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles, techniques, and applications of forensic science in various fields, such as crime scene investigation, forensic toxicology, forensic biology, forensic chemistry, digital forensics, and more. Students are trained to apply scientific methods to analyze evidence and assist law enforcement agencies and the justice system in solving crimes.

Forensic science is inherently interdisciplinary. Our department encourages collaboration with other academic departments and law enforcement agencies to provide students with a holistic perspective. Our faculty members with their expertise in their respective fields, bring in a wealth of real-world experience to the classroom. They guide students in applying scientific techniques to prevent and solve crimes.

Programme

BSc Forensic Programme

The course explores the collection, analysis and interpretation of scientific evidence, in an integrated approach, with plenty of field studies. This exciting area of science is delivered with expertise from forensic faculty and practitioners.

It gives an understanding of the major branches of science. and develop key laboratory skills, and learn to give detailed scientific explanations for the theory and practices used in modern forensic science.

ADMISSION & ELIGIBILITY

Eligibility for admission to B.Sc: A candidate who has passed the two years of Science Pre-University Examination conducted by the Pre- University Education Board in the State of Karnataka or any other examination considered as equivalent with minimum 50% marks is eligible for admission to this programme.

MSc Forensic Programme

The M.Sc. in Forensic Science program provides didactic lectures, coursework, supervised hands on skill based practicals and research work necessary to prepare the students to acquire analytical skills, academic and research knowledge in the areas of Forensic Biology and Serology, DNA Forensics, Forensic Anthropology & Odontology, Forensic chemistry and Toxicology, Forensic Document Analysis and Fingerprint examinations, Cyber Security and Digital Forensics and Crime Scene Management for generating efficient man power in the Criminal Justice system. The curriculum consists of core courses devoted to the scientific analysis of evidences. The Forensic Science program under the Department of Forensic Science at Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), prepares the students for practicing as competent Forensic Scientists, academicians, researchers and consultants. The learning environment is structured to allow students to implement current technology and evidence-based information, to participate in conducting research and engage in experiential learning.

The programme provides them with extraordinary analytical abilities and observational skills which are essentials for forensic experts. The M.Sc. Forensic Science graduates have many opportunities in the fields of Scientific Research, Industry and Academia. They are hired in Forensic Science Laboratories, Chemical Examiners Laboratories, Academic Institutions, Research Laboratories, Quality Control divisions of Pharma and Biotech companies, Police, Intelligence Bureau, CBI, Defence/army, Law firms, Cyber Security and Digital forensic wings of Corporate and Govt. Laboratories / centers, Forensic Accounting and fraud investigation / risk analysis divisions of corporate / banks / multinational companies / organizations , Food adulteration Laboratories, Insurance companies and Private Detective Agencies. The graduates may start training centre or own startups like Consultation firms and give expert opinion in Courts of Law.

ADMISSION & ELIGIBILITY

Candidates who have passed the B.Sc. degree examination in Botany / Chemistry / Zoology / Physics / Bioscience / Biotechnology / Microbiology / Biochemistry / Life Science / Forensic Science / B. Voc (Science stream) / MBBS / BDS / B.Pharm / BSc. Nursing / BSc. MLT and allied disciplines of any University (Recognized By U.G.C) considered as equivalent there to with a minimum of 45% marks in the subject excluding the marks in languages are eligible for the programme.
