The Forensic Science program at Yenepoya University was established in 2019, where we delve into the captivating world of scientific investigation, criminal justice, and the pursuit of truth. Students are trained to apply scientific methods to analyze evidence and assist law enforcement agencies and the justice system in solving crimes.

Forensic science is inherently interdisciplinary. Our department encourages collaboration with other academic departments and law enforcement agencies to provide students with a holistic perspective. BSc Forensic Science & Minor in Cyber Forensics Programme

The BSc in Forensic Science with a Minor in Cyber Forensics offers an in-depth exploration of scientific principles applied to legal contexts, combining a solid foundation in traditional forensic methods with specialized training in digital investigations. This dynamic program is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the collection, analysis, and interpretation of both physical and digital evidence, through a hands-on, integrated approach that includes extensive laboratory work and field studies.

The minor in Cyber Forensics complements this knowledge by focusing on the investigation of cybercrimes, including digital evidence collection, data recovery, and network security. ADMISSION & ELIGIBILITY

Eligibility for admission to B.Sc: A candidate who has passed the two years of Science Pre-University Examination conducted by the Pre-University Education Board in the State of Karnataka or any other examination considered as equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks is eligible for admission to this programme. This eligibility criterion is specifically applicable only to students from the Science stream, ensuring that the foundational knowledge necessary for the B.Sc curriculum has been acquired during their pre-university education.

Scope of the Program

A Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Forensic Science offers a multidisciplinary education that combines principles of science, criminal justice, and law making it versatile and impactful for various roles in the justice system and related fields. The program prepares students to work in various roles related to crime scene investigation, laboratory analysis, legal proceedings and academia both in India and globally.

B.Sc. Forensic

The B.Sc Forensic Science program with a Minor in Cyber Forensics offers a comprehensive education that immerses students in the core principles of criminalistics within a dynamic and enriching academic environment. The curriculum integrates didactic learning with vocational and practical approaches, ensuring that students develop a deep understanding of forensic science while also gaining specialized skills in cyber forensics. This program is designed to elevate students to the highest levels of intellectual achievement and personal growth, equipping them to conduct impactful research that advances the field and contributes to the development of innovative forensic techniques. Graduates are prepared to join a community of ethical and skilled professionals dedicated to upholding justice and serving society through their expertise in forensic science and cyber forensics.

M.Sc. Forensic

The M.Sc. in Forensic Science program provides didactic lectures, coursework, supervised hands on skill based practicals and research work necessary to prepare the students to acquire analytical skills, academic and research knowledge in the areas of Forensic Biology and Serology, DNA Forensics, Forensic Anthropology & Odontology, Forensic chemistry and Toxicology, Forensic Document Analysis and Fingerprint examinations, Cyber Security and Digital Forensics and Crime Scene Management for generating efficient man power in the Criminal Justice system. The curriculum consists of core courses devoted to the scientific analysis of evidences. The Forensic Science program under the Department of Forensic Science at Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), prepares the students for practicing as competent Forensic Scientists, academicians, researchers and consultants. The learning environment is structured to allow students to implement current technology and evidence-based information, to participate in conducting research and engage in experiential learning.

PhD Forensic

PhD Forensic Science program offering both full-time and part-time options. The program is available under four categories: full-time with Yenepoya Junior Research Fellowship, full-time with Central or State Government Fellowship, full-time self- sponsored, and part-time for working professionals (internal and external).

B.Sc. (H) Forensic Science with minor in Cyber Forensics

  • PO:1 Basic & Discipline specific knowledge: Apply the knowledge of basic and applied sciences, social sciences and arts in various forensic problems.
  • PO:2 Problem Analysis: Identify and analyze forensic problems using field specific Standard methods based on scientific approach. Conduct experiments and simulations, as well as critically analyzing the results and interpret them.
