Yenepoya
Institute of Arts, Science, Commerce, and Management hosted a one-day workshop
on "Change for Restoring Human Dignity," a human trafficking
awareness programme. The workshop was organised by the Department of Humanities
and Social Sciences and NSS Unit 10-Kulur in collaboration with the Anti-Human
Trafficking Cell, Mangalore University, Konaje.
The
event commenced with an impactful speech by Principal Dr. Arun A.
Bhagwath.Vice-Principal Dr. Shareena P., Head of the Humanities and Social
Sciences Department,Dr. Sakeena Nasser, Programme Coordinator Dr. Savitha, and
NSS Programme Officer Mr. Abdul Rasheed K.M. were also present.
Professor
P.G. Aquinas, the chairman of the Anti-Human Trafficking Cell at Mangalore
University, gave insightful sessions during the workshop on topics related to
human dignity. He also shared information about trafficking victims, potential
hotspots for trafficking, factors that increase a victim's susceptibility to
trafficking, victim vulnerability, and the impact of trafficking on victims as
well as society.
Dr.Yeshaswini
B., Assistant Professor (Senior Scale), Department of Social Work, Mangalore
University, shed light on the vulnerabilities of women to trafficking and
educated attendees on how to respond in such situations.
