Field Visit to Father Muller De-Addiction & Rehabilitation Center

The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Yenepoya Institute of Arts, Science and Commerce Management (YIASCM), organized a field visit for the students of BA Psychology and Counselling to the Father Muller De-Addiction & Rehabilitation Center, Kankanady, Mangaluru, on 18 February 2026 at 10:00 AM. A total of 14 students, under the guidance of Dr. Shameer, Associate Professor and Field Visit Coordinator, participated in the experiential learning programme.

Mr. Shripathi Bhat, Counsellor, provided a comprehensive overview of the functioning of the De-Addiction Centre, elaborating on the intake procedures, stages of treatment, counselling modalities, and relapse prevention strategies implemented in the management of substance use disorders.

Ms. Valerie Ann Lobo, Clinical Psychologist, delivered an insightful session on the functioning of the Psychiatry Department, emphasizing the multidisciplinary team approach, diagnostic protocols, and therapeutic interventions adopted in clinical practice.

The visit offered students valuable practical exposure to structured rehabilitation and psychiatric services, thereby strengthening their academic understanding and professional orientation in the field of addiction counselling and mental health care.
