The Department of Microbiology, in collaboration with Himedia, successfully organized a one-day workshop on "Molecular Biology Techniques" on January 8, 2025. The workshop aimed to provide MSc Microbiology students with hands-on training in essential molecular biology methods, enhancing their practical knowledge and research skills.
The sessions were expertly conducted by renowned resource persons Dr. Pratapa MG and Mr. Gopinath from Himedia Laboratories, Bangalore.
These sessions provided participants with an in-depth understanding of the principles, protocols, and applications of these molecular biology techniques such as DNA isolation, Polymerase chain reaction (PCR), Agarose gel electrophoresis, SDS PAGE and Western Blot, which are integral to modern biological research.
The workshop was attended by all faculty members and 1 st and 3 rd semester MSc Microbiology students, who actively engaged in the sessions and benefited immensely from the practical insights shared by the resource persons. The workshop on Molecular Biology Techniques was an enriching experience for all participants, equipping them with critical skills and knowledge to advance their academic and research pursuits.
All staff members of the Microbiology department were benefitted along with students.
The Department extends heartfelt gratitude to Prof. Arun. A. Bhagwath, Dr. Jeevan Raj, and Dr. Shareena P for their unwavering support and contributions to the success of the workshop. We express our thanks to YRC, director, Dr Yashodhar Bhandary for providing kits on time.
